Ralph M. Faust Theatre of the
Performing Arts

The Ralph M. Faust Theatre of the Performing Arts at the Oswego High School is a complete performance venue. The Theatre holds 868 persons in contenental style orchestra seating. There is a level handicap accessable entrance and seating area included. The stage has a 46 foot, procenium style opening, with a 12 foot thrust covering the orchestra pit. There are complete audio and lighting systems in place to augment student performances.

The Ralph M. Faust Theatre of the Performing Arts is a non-union house. It is operated by the Oswego City School District and is administered by the High School Principal.
The Theatre is staffed by two full time employees to manage and facilitate the needs of the stage events. A volunteer crew of High School students, is also engaged to assist in staging events. They are trained in lighting, sound, follow spot, and stage operations.

Music department events, concert, recitals, musicals, festivals and competitions annually involved thousands of Oswego's performing elementary to high school age students. Concerts are admission free and the public is encouraged to attend. There is a minimal charge for the Oswego High School musical production. Other extracurricular club events may have a minimual admission charge. See schedule of events for upcoming events.

The Oswego City School District makes it buildings and athletic fields widely available for community use. Priority is given to instructional and extracurricular programs for students.

The Oswego City School District has adopted a Code of Conduct. The Code has been written to comply with the New York State Safe School Against Violence in Education Act. The Code of Conduct applies to all students, District personnel, parents and other visitors when on District property of attending a District function. The Code also applies at District-sponsored extracurricular events, including events taking place within the Ralph M. Faust Theatre. A complete version of the Code of Conduct is available for review in each of the District's school buildings, District office and the District web site (www.oswego.org) as well as in your school's Student Handbook.

After-school and Evening activities will generally be cancelled if the school has been closed that day due to hazardous weather conditions or other emergency situation.
New in May 2008. All non-student, non-employee, persons must follow specific guidelines to be to be able to perform volunteer work in the Faust Theatre. Please contact the Theatre Manager with any questions at 341-2265.
